According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Catalan club is closing in on the free-agent acquisition of Real Betis and Argentina midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
He has claimed the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner remains in talks with Barcelona, but added that a "full agreement is just matter of time".
The 30-year-old, who specialises as a defensive midfielder, is expected to pen a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months with the Blaugrana.
Rodriguez has been a Betis player since January 2020, and has amassed 170 appearances for the club across all competitions.
Adjustments are set to be made to Barcelona's squad in the coming window, with midfielder Oriol Romeu likely to make way following his arrival at the Camp Nou last year.
